Richard began his musical journey at 7 playing the violin. He loved the instrument but as he got older he was constantly teased and ridiculed for playing it by his peers. One day confrontation turned into a fight and he decided to return the instrument to the school.

Asa teenager he fell in love with Jimmy Hendrix and began his time with the guitar. In a short time, he was nicknamed little Jimmy cause he had a fierce solo and could play all of Jimmy’s songs. Some of the musicians he played with liked his soloing so much they dragged him to a jam session and his love of jazz began.

Ata jam session one night one of the musicians he jammed with let him try the flute. Everyone laughed as he struggled to make sounds with the instrument but something clicked in him and he decided to learn the instrument. He loves a challenge and the flute truly pushed him. He started practicing the flute and sax 4 to 8 hours a day. He put his guitar in the corner and never picked it up again.
